Back to School

So, it's back to school at our house. IT has been for almost the last month. I need to journal as I've promised my daughter that if I do then she has to as well. She hasn't, I haven't....
Is it just me or are there so many stories lately about school and it's failings? There's the president's Back to School address, the new documentary "Waiting for Superman" about our failing Education System here in America as well as books and another Documentary "The Lottery" which I want to see. It just reminds me again that I'm glad I'm Home Schooling. It certainly isn't easy but so worth it. I don't even know that I've been called to do it, I just know it's the best thing for the family. I hated seeing Ahmi go off and be gone so long. She'd come home with some useless assignment or nothing at all. I volunteered in the class so I know how little attention she actually got from the teacher. It amazes me that she learned as much as she did.
It's right to have the children home learning from their parents.

well, how do i get into the habit of doing this every day? i'm at the beach house and having a great time with the kids. of course, they're all watching tv so it's nice and quiet. i can watch my tennis and enjoy the peace. boy, just watch when the TV goes off, however. THe kids don't even come out for meals!
I'm also doing well being responsible for all 4 by myself. Doug is at our house with his group of friends for the weekend.
I started home school and really want to go easy, with the studies, not with their attitudes towards the work. I want to be firm but not scare them away from education. It really can be fun to learn.
Love you Ahmi & Edward.
Edward, i see you running on your own schedule. I'll try and take that into consideration but not where it let's you off the hook for your work or causes trouble in the family.
ahmi, i love that you can get the work done, i expect you to be happy even though it's hard. We're all i this together.
That's it for now. I'll work on making sense for others later.

You say it's your birthday

Today's my husbands birthday. It's been so nice. He doesn't have a lot of expectations and is easy to please. My youngest daughter wrapped up his hair gel he's been looking for and gave that to him. She got out the princess wrapping paper and covered it with what was left of a roll of tape; it still wasn't sealed.
THe kids and I took the train to Olvera Street yesterday and brought home some taquitos from Cielito Linda. He can drink the green sauce right out of the cup.
The mailman came with a package from Jacques Penne and the husband got some new jeans and a swimsuit.
He got to go to Toys R Us with my youngest soon who "Made the biggest poop in the potty."
He smoke and drank and had steak with potatoes then cake and ice cream. Great great. And to finish the evening we watched Jaws with EVERYONE. Let's see how many times the kids wake up with nightmares.

Hey, What's new?

Hey, I have a blog! I totally forgot about this.
I'll be back for sure with words and pictures and hopefully get a little more techno savy.
